Letters to the Next President

Although most K-12 students aren't eligible to vote, that doesn't mean elections are irrelevant for them. From a recent mock debate I attended, to the Google Docs/National Writing Project "Letters to the Next President" campaign that's collecting thousands of student-written letters, it's apparent that young people are paying attention and want their voices heard by political leaders. And a lot of them are speaking up for more support of public education. Out of the over 5,000 letters posted on the Letters to the Next President site, nearly 10 percent are related to education--attracting and keeping good teachers with higher pay, better facilities, more affordable college options, and so forth.

"Teachers create the basis of our future society." says Ariel C. Find out what else students are saying about schools and what they want for the future of education here
